Reading ≠ improvement/success
I’m sure you have this ingrained belief that you need to read to improve your life. I mean if you didn’t you wouldn’t be reading this now. And you see all these successful people recommending the books that got them there.
Yes, these books surely contain the knowledge to get you where you want to be…
But all these people always leave out a very critical piece of the puzzle. Knowledge isn’t power, it’s just a tool to use. The real power comes from taking action.
You can read a 100 books but if you don’t take action the guy that only read 2 books and fully incorporated them in his life will be miles ahead of you forever.
A good tip for you (especially if you are in the early stages of reading), be very conscious about what you choose to read. Sit and be real with yourself. Ask yourself questions and give honest answers:
Am I happy with who I am?
What areas of my life would I want to improve on?
How do my thought patterns look and is there something I might want to change about them?
What skill can I learn to take my life/career to the next level?
Come up with your own questions or use mine as a guideline, but go and sit down and answer those questions and then read books based on your answers.
And then highlight what resonates most with you.
And then revise it often.
And take action daily.

If you want to learn to eat healthier and you read a book to understand food better, you HAVE to make those small choices daily to actually eat healthier. You can’t just sit on the knowledge because that would be the definition of being stupid, making the same mistakes even though you know better) 📚[A great book for this is The Diet Myth by Tim Spector btw 🙂 ]
If you choose a particular psychology book. Don’t just read it and think “wow that was interesting”. Read it and be aware of your own psychology and thoughts and the people around you, learn from them and help them too.
I’ll keep it short today so you can sit and think about what I said. Are you taking action to get the life you deserve or are you reading a bunch of books and thinking that the act of reading itself is action?
Also I’m only so very aware of this issue because I made it so many times myself. Read to rise, don’t read just to read 💪
Here is a list of books that I would say would be enough to make you happy, healthy and put you ahead of 99% of people if you only read them and never read anything else again (obviously meaning you fully take action 😉 )
Why We Sleep - Matthew Walker
The Courage To Be Disliked - Ichiro Kishimi
The 5am Club - Robin Sharma
Can’t Hurt Me - David Goggins
Genius is the ability to put into effect what is in your mind. There’s no other definition of it.
